Tree Planting Program

How much do the trees cost?

Homeowners may purchase one (1) tree for $50 or $75, depending on availability and size, to be planted on their property. Businesses may purchase up to three (3) trees for $50 or $75 each, depending on availability and size, to be planted on the business property.

Who can apply?

Residents and businesses within the Evanston city limits may apply. There are no exceptions to this rule as this is a city program through a nationwide organization. Go to
this website for more information about the program:
https://www.arborday.org/programs/TreeCityUSA/index.cfm

We want everyone to have an opportunity to purchase a tree. Because there is a limited number of trees available each year, you may not purchase a tree each consecutive year; but you can be added to a waiting list. Once adequate time has passed for new people to apply for a tree, the people on the waiting list will be contacted and will have the opportunity to purchase a tree for the second year.

When, where, and how do I apply?

Tree applications will be made available in the fall and need to be returned by the middle of January. Check back here for specific dates or “Follow” the Evanston Recreation Center on Facebook and social media. Tree availability is limited and is first-come first-serve so be sure to apply early.

The tree application will be made available to print here or to pick up in-person at the Evanston Recreation Center or City Hall. Checks must be made payable to “Evanston Parks and Recreation Department (EPRD)” at the time the application is submitted. Applications may not be submitted online. No late applications will be accepted.

When will the trees arrive?

The trees will be delivered to the Evanston Parks Department the 2nd or 3rd week of June. Trees will be available for pick up at the Evanston Parks Shop, 110 Pasture Drive. A member of the Tree Board will notify the contact person on the application when the trees are available for pick up.
